Community Involvement
Nike supports many sport based community programs around the world in countries like Brazil, China and America and developing countries. Nike funds the program in Brazil which is called Bola Pra Fente, it helps disadvantaged children aged 6 to 17 years old to improve on their academic performance and gain access to better employment opportunities through mainly sport. Nike launched the ‘Let me Play’ program together with ‘China Children’ and ‘Teens’ Fund’ which now operates in 10 cities and has reached out to more than 170 000 children each year. This program trains PE teachers to enhance the confidence, creativity, communication and teamwork skills in children aged 9 to 13.
The Nike Foundation works with a variety of programs around the world that supports the ‘Girl Effect’. Nike are proud supporters of the ‘Girl Effect’ and as a company believe in the power of human potential. At the Nike Foundation, they invest exclusively in what they see as the greatest source of potential, adolescent girls. Adolescent girls in developing countries who realise their full potential, are not the only ones who escape poverty, she brings her family, the community and the country along with her.
